Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo, NSW
A new $10M facility at the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo was recently funded by the Government of New South Wales and the Taronga Conservation Society. Positioned at the mid-way point of the zoo circuit, the African Waterhole and Overlook Café will feature a new 150 seat café and an African waterhole themed recreational playground.
Project Design Brief
Designers required a number of new cable pits for communications, data, power and security services. They also wanted these enclosures adaptable for future cable infrastructure upgrades. The pit materials needed to be durable to withstand Dubbo’s harsh weather extremes and the zoo’s soil conditions. Whilst pits were positioned away from walking paths, they still needed to be suitable for public areas.
