Gold Coast Community Facilities, Gold Coast, Qld
Gold Coast City Council maintains a number of community facilities to allow residents and families to enjoy the 50km of beaches in the Gold Coast. These facilities include parks and playgrounds, shower and change facilities, coastal pathways and barbeque areas.
Project Design Brief
A number of services are required to enable the various community facilities to operate in a safe manner: communications and data, lighting, power and CCTV. All beach side barbeques are powered using low voltage electricity, which the council secures both below ground and at the facility itself. Designers required a level of security across all cable pits to minimise vandalism. These pits needed to be easily accessible for authorized maintenance crew only.
ACO's Solution
- ACO Cablemate® pits with PowerLok® steel covers
Benefits
- Powerlok® lids can be easily upgraded to a higher-level security using padlocks, if required
- The large range of pit sizes meant all pits were sized according to their function
- Powerlok® lids have a slip resistance rating of R10 to AS 4586 for pedestrian safety
- Powerlok® lids, once locked, do not contain any cumbersome loose bars or bolts, helping to keep metallic components away from cables
